Indeed, it is possible to learn to control your emotions and learn relaxation techniques. Whether you’re feeling angry, scared, or anxious, relaxation techniques can help. Athletes also tend to use internal speech techniques to control their emotions as part of their mental preparation.
The approach focused on controlling emotions is effective. It includes many other strategies than those of relaxation and control of internal discourse. These include performance routines, goal setting and mental imagery. « Even if I’m one of the worst on the pitch, I can give my best and the coach will realise that ! » Then, reasses the intensity of the emotion felt and write down this score.

2: Rate the emotion provoked and rate its intensity on a scale from 0 to 10
3: Write down the automatic thoughts that came to you in the face of this event.
